Wrestling Observer Radio with Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer is back today with tons to talk about including a full preview of Backlash for Sunday, New Japan Dontaku nights one and two featuring an all-time classic match between Okada and Tanahashi, all the results from the shows and where they’re going next, Neff Maiava’s death, and tons more!
We kick off with a preview of Backlash, which will be headlined by AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title. It will be the first dual brand show aside from the big four, and will remain that way going forward.
New Japan had two big shows this week as both nights of Wrestling Dontaku took place. Dave reviews both shows, then runs down the show for next month.
The show finishes with talk of Neff Maiava, who was one of the first major Samoan wrestling stars. He passed away on April 21. Dave talks about his career and the Rock’s family tree.
